Fitting in

What you find in this section of the site will be some of the difficulties I experience, as a part of the world we live in. The dark side of life, which is messy, emotional and often hidden from view. Hidden because society has become so focused on positive, success, validation and happy discussions to be acceptable between one another

We are so often driven by the need to be accepted within the framework of our society. To be a part of a structure, to associate with what we see. Being social creatures, this is a given – our survival throughout time has rested on our ability to belong to a community.

This natural instinct of ours, that is to ‘fit in’, is also our issue. What are we ‘fitting’ into?

We each have a sense, a feeling, of what is not working within the structures we live in. We inherently know When this knowing of what is not working is suppressed, we have explosive expressions within society. Or worse, we silently suppress within.

Here I propose that we do not allow our inherent knowing to be explosive nor suppressive. Let it naturally flow out, peacefully. Let our expression, that may not ‘fit in’ to normal society, still be expressed, and let it change the society we live in.

This song by Leyland Kirby contains an idea of what I speak of. It is experimental, unknown, repetitive, tribal and dark.

The sounds appear to come from instruments unknown to us, much like the hidden emotions that sprout out unknowingly at times from within us.

There doesn’t always seem to be an end to the emotions or thoughts that we experience, they continue on repeatedly like broken records.

There is something primal about this dark, shadow material that exists within us. It hides in the night and can only be seen by campfire.

The subtle unknown within us is invisible, and is only noticed when the light creates shadows off of the invisible objects that dance around the fire.

Do not be afraid of the dark, be afraid of it’s unconscious control of our lives.
